All these Okada accident on express roads are getting too much oo!
The move by Lagos State government to relegate Okada riders to work only on streets some years back seems to be a very good one until recently that we have ORide, GOkada bikes on our express roads.
Sadly, the rate at which ORide riders and other riders working with similar companies are perishing on the road is quite disturbing.
Just last month, truck conveying cows crushed an operator of motorbike ride-hailing service, ORide (OPay), to death at Iyana-Itire bus-stop on the Oshodi-Apapa expressway.
The ORide operator simply identified as Sikiru was hit from behind and dragged off from his bike by the truck for a few meters on the one-lane service road inward Cele express. (CLICK HERE TO READ THE NEWS)
Today, on my way to work, an ORide (OPAY) bike rider was crushed to death by a truck conveying sand around Agungi, lekki-epe expressway. Just like that two people are gone
I was shocked and short of words because I am guilty of taking bikes on expressways too (Ikeja to Lekki).
Shouldn’t government just ban these bikes on expressway so that everyone’s life can be safe?
Because no matter the number of bike related deadly accidents recorded, some of us won’t stop putting our lives at risk all because we want to beat traffic.
Guys, the question still remains
Should Okada, GOkada, ORide Be Banned On Expressways?
Let’s have your thoughts on this.
